📸 Portrait Photography Style Guide
Welcome
Thank you for choosing Stancorpuz Photography for your portrait session. Whether this session celebrates a personal milestone, enhances your professional brand, or is a gift to yourself, our goal is to create timeless, authentic portraits that reflect your strength, beauty, and individuality.
This guide is designed to help you feel confident, prepared, and fully informed every step of the way.
What to Expect
Before the Session: We’ll begin with a brief consultation to discuss the purpose of your session, location preferences, and overall style goals. I’m available to assist with wardrobe guidance and answer any questions.
During the Session: Portrait sessions typically last 60–90 minutes and include a mix of posed and candid direction. I will guide you through flattering angles and natural expressions to ensure you feel relaxed and empowered in front of the camera.
After the Session: Your professionally edited gallery will be delivered within 1–2 weeks. You’ll receive high-resolution digital images along with options for fine art prints, albums, or additional retouching services.
Wardrobe Guidelines: The right wardrobe can elevate your images and help communicate your style, personality, and intent. Here are some key considerations:
Color Palette : Opt for solid tones or understated patterns. Neutral, earth, or jewel tones tend to photograph beautifully. Avoid neon colors, large logos, or busy prints, as they may distract from your face.
Fit & Form: Wear clothing that fits well and flatters your shape. Structured pieces—such as tailored blouses, fitted dresses, or high-waisted trousers—create clean, elegant lines.
Fabrics & Texture: Incorporate rich textures like silk, satin, linen, or knit to add dimension. Avoid shiny synthetic fabrics, which can reflect light unnaturally.
Versatility: Bring 2–3 outfit options to allow for variety. A classic look, a professional or editorial style, and one bold or creative ensemble work well for most sessions.
Hair & Makeup
Professional hair and makeup services are highly recommended. Soft, camera-ready makeup enhances natural features and helps maintain consistency across images. If you choose to do your own:
Use matte foundation and avoid SPF-heavy products to reduce shine.
Define your brows, lashes, and lips for subtle emphasis.
Consider a light touch-up kit (lipstick, blotting paper) for on-site adjustments.
Hair should be clean and styled in a way that reflects your personal aesthetic. Bring a comb, pins, or product for wind or touch-ups as needed.
Accessories & Personal Details
Jewelry: Minimal pieces work best unless your look calls for statement accents.
Shoes: Choose shoes that complement your outfit and location. In studio, barefoot portraits can also be elegant.
Nails: Neutral or polished nails keep attention on your face and expressions.
Optional: Feel free to bring personal items such as a journal, book, bouquet, or other objects that hold meaning or represent your brand or story.
